| With a gently soulful voice and lyrics that captivate audiences of all ages, Mary Kieftenbeld is one of Albertas most inspirational up and coming performers. Born and raised in the small hamlet of Calahoo, an hour northwest of Edmonton Alberta, this award winning singer, songwriter and storyteller covers a beautiful array of musical genres including folk, gospel, country and easy listening. As a mother and wife, with a proud connection to her roots and relentless faith in God, Mary's carefully crafted songs and stories are written from the heart, inspired by the Spirit and are good for the soul. When performing, Mary touches listeners with her warmth, humour, sincerity and openhearted style, encouraging them to believe in dreams, trust in themselves, make good choices, have courage and reach for the stars. Ever since Mary was a little girl, she has had a love of music. At age six, she began singing in her small town church choir, then found her true passion at age 10 when she picked up a guitar for the first time. Mary has been singing and playing ever since! With a guitar in hand and the opportunity to share the story of her journey and the gift of her music, Mary is a brilliantly versatile performer. This past year, Mary has been busy with concerts in theatres, churches, schools and at local events. Marys latest achievement was having her song Alberta chosen over 335 entries as winner of the Provinces official song contest. Marys song will be a centerpiece in Albertas Centennial celebrations throughout 2005. |
